How we rank
There is no paid preference. No commission, no rank to buy. What decides the order is set out here in full.
What decides the order
- Fit with the search. Place, dates, number of people and bedrooms. Anything not free does not appear once dates are set.
- Distance. If you share a location or select a point on the map, nearer stays appear first. Distance plays no part without a location.
- Saves by signed-in guests. Within the matching results, homes saved more often rank higher. Only signed-in saves count, so one browser cannot create unlimited votes.
- Displayed nightly price. Cheaper stays then rank before more expensive ones. We compare the same final price including the 3.9% cost contribution that guests see on the card.
- Stable order. If homes remain equal, only their technical identifier decides. This stops results jumping randomly between pages.
What plays no part
- Whether bookings have already been paid or how much they were worth.
- Whether a place is also listed on another site.
- How long someone has been with us.
- How many places an owner lists.
- Whether BookNoFees or its operator owns the stay.
Example listings
Listings marked as an Example cannot be booked and do not appear in the public accommodation search.
If this changes
Should highlighted placements be introduced, two things apply: they are marked as an Advertisement, and they change nothing about the order of the remaining results. We give hosts 15 days’ notice of any change to these criteria.
